EU RoHS Directive
Restriction on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (Directive 2011/65/EU).

The main objective of the EU ROHS Directive is to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to protect human health and the environment. The directive applies to all equipment operating up to 1000 VAC and 1500 VDC and contained in a list of 11 categories.
Since February 2003, the RoHS Directive has restricted the use of hazardous substances in all electrical and electronic equipment, including medical devices and control and monitoring equipment. The directive also requires the substitution of safe alternatives to heavy metals.
The EU RoHS Directive restricts the use of the following hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Lead (Pb)
Mercury (Hg)
Cadmium (Cd)
Chromium VI (Cr VI)
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)

The allowable limits are 0.1% (1000 ppm). For cadmium, the allowable limit is 0.01% (100ppm) by weight of homogeneous material.

On June 4, 2015, the European Union (EU) in the official gazette published on instructions on 2015/863 RoHS2.0 (2011/65 / EU) appendix II amended, officially four kinds of phthalates (DEHP, BBP and DBP, DIBP) on RoHS2.0 appendix II. Four new kinds of phthalates  limit is 0.1% (1000 ppm). 2015/863 specified in the corresponding transition: Since July 22, 2019, all electrical and electronic products (except for medical equipment and monitoring equipment) satisfy the new requirements. Since July 22, 2021, Medical equipment and monitoring equipment satisfy the new requirements.
