California Revises Jewelry Laws

In September 27, 2019, the Governor of California signed SB 647 to amend the rules governing licensed materials used in the manufacture of jewelry and children`s jewelry.
The amendments are as follows:
1."Children" means persons under 15 years of age.
2.Electroplated metal: <500 mg/kg.
3.Unplated metal: <500 mg/kg.
4.Plastic or rubber: <200 mg/kg.
5.A dye or surface coating: <500 mg/kg.
6.Any other material: <500 mg/kg.
The above shall become operative on June 1, 2020.
